We use Grow & Glow in our practice for older horses, sport horses, lactating mares and breeding stalliions to maintain a healthy weight. Especially in winter this is a big plus! Patients with poor dentition also benefit greatly from it as they often struggle to get enough calories from their diet.

HIGH IN OMEGA-3 (DHA) TO SUPPORT GUT HEALTH

How Grow & Glow works in the body

Underweight horses and sport horses often do not need more feed. They need smarter energy and better absorption.

Grow & Glow combines DHA-rich microalgae oil, coconut oil, and carefully selected fatty acids to deliver concentrated calories without sugar spikes.

The MCFAs from coconut oil provide quickly available fuel, while EPA + DHA support intestinal cell health and strong cell membranes. A healthier gut lining helps improve nutrient absorption from the entire diet.

More condition. Better absorption. Safe energy.

What to expect

With consistent daily use

Calorie-dense oil blend with omega-3 fatty acids and natural vitamin E

  1. DAYS 1 – 14

    Energy from day one

Cold-pressed linseed oil and coconut oil deliver immediate dietary energy (fat provides ~2.25× the energy of starch per gram) without raising blood sugar. Build up from 20 ml/day to avoid loose stools as the digestive system adapts.

  2. WEEKS 2 – 4

    Coat starts to change

DHA from microalgae oil (Schizochytrium sp.) begins incorporating into cell membranes — the same mechanism documented in canine and equine lipid trials. Dull or patchy coats start to develop a healthier sheen. (Ref: Bauer, 2011)

  3. WEEKS 4 – 6

    Body condition improves

Caloric support from fats contributes to improved body condition score in horses with high energy demands or poor dentition. Natural vitamin E (d-α-tocopherol; 1,500 IU per daily dose) protects muscle cells from exercise-induced oxidative stress. (Ref: NRC, 2007)

  4. WEEKS 6 – 8+

    Omega-3 anti-inflammatory support established

Full EPA + DHA membrane incorporation takes 6–8 weeks. Omega-3 fatty acids contribute to a normal inflammatory response in muscle, gut and skin. Coat quality is visibly improved and body weight is supported long-term.

BEFORE
AFTER

Vanille

Vanille is a 31-year-old Shetland pony who, despite a good appetite and a balanced diet of hay, grass, a fiber-rich mash, and a balancer, kept losing weight. With almost no teeth left, chewing hay and grazing properly had become difficult, so her owners needed another way to help her maintain condition. After adding Grow & Glow to her daily routine, Vanille showed a visible change within 8 weeks: her Body Condition Score improved from 1 to 3, and the difference is clear to see in her overall weight and condition.

BEFORE
AFTER

Ingrid Van As

For nearly three years, Ingrid’s mare struggled with persistent weight loss. Despite dental checks, veterinary exams, blood tests, and fecal analysis, no clear cause was found. The mare would briefly gain weight, only to lose it again, while appearing increasingly restless and thin. Various approaches were tried, including energy treatments, feed adjustments, and supplements recommended by a natural feed specialist, but results were inconsistent and short-lived.

After many setbacks and growing hesitation, Ingrid eventually introduced Guts & Glory alongside Grow & Glow. Within three months, her mare regained condition, with no visible ribs, a shinier coat, and a calmer, healthier overall state.

AFTER

Harry

Harry, an 8-year-old jumping horse, struggled to maintain condition due to intense training, showing a dull coat and visible ribs.

After one month on Grow & Glow, his coat appeared shinier and healthier, and his ribs became less visible, reflecting an overall improvement in condition while staying in full work.

BEFORE

Maya

Maya, a horse struggling to maintain weight, appeared noticeably thin before her feeding plan was adjusted. Following veterinary advice, her diet was changed and Grow & Glow was introduced.

After two months, Maya showed clear improvements, with better overall condition and a healthier appearance.

Key Ingredients

Nature holds the power. Science unlocks it.

Every ingredient is chosen based on documented mechanisms of action and peer-reviewed evidence. Select a compound below to go deeper.

Linseed (flaxseed)

Linum usitatissimum

Linseed is valued for alpha-linolenic acid (aplantomega-3) and is commonly used in horses and dogs to support healthy skin andcoat. It is especially relevant when animals eatmainly hayor processed diets with less natural omega-3 compared with fresh forage. Linseed also provides gentle mucilage-like fibers that many owners associate with digestive comfort. Sembratowicz et al., 2020

Coconut oil

Cocos nucifera

Coconut oil is rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), a type of fat that is absorbed and used for energy more rapidly than many long-chain fats. This makes it a practicaloptionwhen you want an easy-to-use calorie boost for horses without the sugar rush often associated with concentrates. Research suggests that MCT-based diets can shift how the body uses fuel, supporting quick energy availability. Coconut oil may also support skin health. Craig et al., 2003

Dried coconut kernel (oil)

Algae oil (DHA-rich)

Algae oil

Algal oil is a sustainable, traceable source of omega-3s, naturally rich in DHA and often EPA, and it supports the body’s healthy inflammatory balance.

  • Joint health: Omega-3s help keep the normal inflammatory response in check, which can support more comfortable movement and recovery after exercise.
  • Skin and coat: DHA and EPA support the skin barrier, helping reduce dryness and supporting a softer, shinier coat, especially in animals prone to flaky skin or seasonal itchiness.
  • Lung health: Omega-3s can support respiratory comfort by helping maintain a balanced inflammatory response in the airways, which is relevant for pets that react to dust, pollen, or environmental triggers.

Because algal oil delivers omega-3s in a consistent way, it is a practical alternative to fish oil for long-term daily support of joints, skin, and respiratory resilience (ScienceDirect).

Vitamin D3

Cholecalciferol

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays an essential role in regulating calcium and phosphorus metabolism. These minerals are important for maintaining normal bone formation and overall structural support.

Beyond its role in mineral metabolism, vitamin D3 also contributes to immune system regulation. Immune cells contain vitamin D receptors, and adequate vitamin D levels support normal immune responses and physiological balance.

Vitamin D is also involved in cellular growth and differentiation, including in tissues such as the skin. These processes contribute to maintaining skin integrity and overall tissue health.

Because of its role in immune function, skin health, and metabolic balance, vitamin D3 is commonly included in nutritional formulations designed to support overall wellbeing and resilience in dogs (Chrobak-Chmiel, 2023; Dogru, 2017; Hattangdi-Haridas, 2019; Mostafa, 2015).

Primary benefit

Immune, skin, and metabolic support

Vitamin E

Natural Vitamin E

Vitamin E (D-alpha-tocopherol) is an essential fat-soluble antioxidant that helps protect cell membranes from oxidative stress. Because these membranes are rich in fatty acids, they are particularly sensitive to oxidative damage, making antioxidant protection important for normal cellular function (ScienceDirect, 2014).

Vitamin E plays an important role in maintaining muscle cell integrity and supports normal nerve function. It also contributes to immune function and helps maintain healthy tissues such as skin and coat (Fagan, 2018).

Horses naturally obtain vitamin E from fresh grass, but intake can be limited when pasture access is restricted, making additional supply relevant (University of California, 2019).

Vitamin E can occur in different forms (tocopherols), each with specific antioxidant properties. A combination of these forms provides broader antioxidant support compared to a single form alone. As a fat-soluble vitamin, delivering vitamin E in an oil-based form supports its natural absorption (Quigley, 2021).

Primary benefit

Antioxidant support for cellular, muscle, and immune health

In most cases, yes. The energy in Grow & Glow comes from fats, which are typically slow-release, rather than from sugars and starches, which can cause rapid energy peaks. The added omega-3 and vitamin E also support overall balance, including muscles and recovery. If you’re unsure what’sappropriate for your horse, check with your vet or our support team.

Yes. Oil is a useful way to add calories without causing sugar or starch spikes, which can be beneficial for horses with insulin dysregulation. It can help support weight, coat, and skin condition, while providing slow-release energy. If you’re unsure what’sappropriate for your horse, check with your vet or our support team.

Yes, Grow & Glow is suitable for foals and young horses, provided you follow the recommended dosage. For example, a 250 kg horse can receive 50 ml per day, adjusted according to body weight. For best tolerance, introduce it gradually over several days by starting with a smaller amount and building up to the full dose. If you're unsure what's appropriate for your horse, check with your vet or our support team.

Yes. Grow & Glow can be combined with other supplements. If your horse already receives another oil-based product, do keep an eye on the total oil intake. As a general guideline, aim to stay below 0.5 of 0.5–1 mlof added oil per kg body weight per day. If you're unsure what's appropriate for your horse, check with your vet or our support team.

Yes. They complement each other well: Grow & Glow supports healthy weight gain by providing extra calories and slow-release energy, and it also helps support coat condition. Body & Build focuses on protein support for muscle development, strength, and recovery. Used together, they support both weight gain and lean muscle development. If you’re unsure what’s appropriate for your horse, check with your vet or our support team.
