Rosmarinus officinalis

Rosemary

Antioxidant support for joint tissues

Rosemary is an aromatic Mediterranean herb valued for its high concentration of polyphenols, including rosmarinic acid, carnosic acid, and carnosol. These compounds are widely studied for their antioxidant properties and their role in helping maintain a normal inflammatory balance in tissues.

In active animals such as sport horses, oxidative stress and inflammatory signaling can increase during intense exercise or repetitive joint loading. Plant polyphenols like those found in rosemary are therefore often explored for their ability to support the body’s natural antioxidant defenses and help protect connective tissues from oxidative stress.

Because maintaining antioxidant balance is important for joint tissues such as cartilage, ligaments, and tendons, rosemary extracts are sometimes included in nutritional strategies aimed at supporting mobility and maintaining comfortable movement in animals exposed to physical workload or age-related wear.
