🌸 Phase 1 — Fertility Foundation
Before covering, the goal is a mare in optimal body condition (BCS 5–6) with a well-balanced diet. Nutritional deficiencies at this stage directly impair ovulation quality and embryo survival.
- Este Balancer (250 g/day) — Completes the forage ration with the correct ratio of vitamins and minerals. Forage alone is never sufficient; this fills the gaps without adding unnecessary calories.
- Fresh & Fertile (15 g/day) — Plant-based prenatal support formulated to promote hormonal balance and healthy egg maturation during the breeding season.
🐴 Phase 2 — Early to Mid Pregnancy (Months 1–8)
The foetus grows slowly during this period — keep the diet stable. The key transition is gut health: from month 4, the expanding uterus puts pressure on the hindgut and the mare's microbiome needs active support.
- Este Balancer (250 g/day) — Continue as the mineral and vitamin base throughout pregnancy.
- Fresh & Fertile (months 1–3) — Continue prenatal support through early pregnancy.
- Guts & Glory (from month 4) — Swap in gut microbiome support as hindgut pressure increases. A disrupted microbiome in mid-pregnancy is a leading cause of colic risk and impaired nutrient absorption for the developing foal.
🤰 Phase 3 — Late Pregnancy (Months 9–11)
75% of the foal's birth weight is gained in the final trimester. Energy, protein, and micronutrient needs surge. The stomach is compressed — smaller, denser meals are essential.
- Este Balancer (+20% increase) — Increased mineral demand for foal skeletal development requires a higher dose; a deficiency here is directly linked to developmental orthopaedic disease in foals.
- Grow & Glow Oil (100 ml/day) — Omega-3 rich oil provides calorie-dense energy without the metabolic spike of cereals or sugars. Supports foal brain and retinal development via DHA transfer through the placenta.
- Guts & Glory — Continue gut support; a healthy microbiome in late pregnancy seeds the foal's own gut flora at birth.
🍼 Phase 4 — Lactation (Months 1–4 post-foaling)
Lactation is the most energy-demanding phase of a mare's life — caloric needs effectively double in the first 3–4 months. Inadequate nutrition causes rapid body condition loss, poor milk quality, and slower foal growth.
- Este Balancer (maintain elevated dose) — Minerals lost through milk production must be continuously replenished.
- Grow & Glow Oil (200 ml/day) — Doubled dose to sustain energy output and maintain body condition without overloading the digestive system with starch.
- Guts & Glory — Lactation alters the gut microbiome; prebiotic/probiotic support keeps fermentation balanced and immune function strong.
