IMBY by Curafyt · Insect protein for dogs

Your dog's food can be kinder to the planet

IMBY makes dog food with insect protein instead of meat. Here's what that saves.

What you save

Switch your dog to IMBY and see the difference in one year

Your dog used to eat
Show the saving for

Switching your dog from beef dog food to IMBY saves as much CO₂ as a car makes in half a year. Every year.

Less CO₂ (the gas that warms the planet) 1,000kg or more
  • like not driving 7,500 km
Less water 2million litres
  • almost a full Olympic swimming pool
Less farmland 8 to 14×less
  • farmland for the protein in your dog's bowl

Based on a medium-sized dog eating 80 kg of food a year. We used the most careful numbers.

The biggest surprise: water

Switching your dog from beef dog food to IMBY saves almost an Olympic swimming pool of water a year

  1. Growing feed takes water

Almost all the water for meat goes into growing feed crops like corn and soy. Drinking is a tiny part.

  2. Insects eat far less

For the same amount of protein, insects need 12 times less feed than cows.

  3. Almost nothing is wasted

We can use 80% of an insect, but only 40% of a cow.

The research behind it

The sustainability of insect protein has been studied. Here is what the research shows.

Shorter bars are better.

Where it comes from

Meet the black soldier fly: it grows fast, on very little

One life cycle: 6 to 10 weeks

  1. Egg 500–900 per female
  2. Larva eats leftovers, grows fast
  3. Pupa rests and changes
  4. Fly lives about a week

We use the larva: rich in protein, raised on plant leftovers.
